Procrastinating or Honing the Foodie in Me (circle one) Part 2

(continued from Part 1)

I’ve also had the pleasure of getting reacquainted with these other SF neighborhoods and discovering more lovely places to nourish my soul….

Mission

When walking around Dolores Park, a trip to Bi-Rite for their Salted Caramel and Creme Fraiche ice cream has always been a must.  Also try Honey Lavendar and Balsamic Strawberry.

Tartine Bakery was a disappointment this time around.  I forgot how small the place is and it’s next to impossible to get a table without being annoying and standing next to peoples’ tables.

Perhaps visiting at 6:30pm was a mistake as the bread used for my Turkey Pesto Sandwich has been laying out all day.  Or was the cook that flipped my sandwich approaching the end of his shift which caused the edges of my sandwich to burn?  Either way, I almost chipped my teeth biting into that sandwich. At least my quiche was decent.

Weird fish‘s ecclectic decor is what you’d expect in a vegetarian Mission restaurant complete with your own charming glasses-wearing, tattooed and pierced server (not pictured).

Their Vegan Buffalo Wings was their standout dish that we had to order twice.  Since she doesn’t eat Buffalo, Jessica Simpson would’ve been pleased.

After the boyfriend’s dear friend announced grimly that her guy didn’t want children, one carafe of their Sangria was enough to get my 5 feet 108lb self (with an empty stomach) to blurt out in front of everyone, “POKE HOLES IN THE CONDOMS!” Insert boyfriend’s horrified face here.  Alcohol is a hell of a drug.

Dynamo Donuts was the perfect complement on my naughty food day.

Since they’re “organic, sustainable, and made with local ingredients whenever possible,” I decided to feed my inner fat girl with 4 of these babies: Chocolate Star Anise, Apricot Cardamom, Coconut, and Caramel de Sel.

Tip:  Go there at 7am to get the Maple Glazed Bacon Apple Donut as they sell out fast!

2nd Tip:  That handsome man underneath the Dynamo Donut sign is my good friend Chris.  He’s intelligent, successful, kind, hilarious, and SINGLE!!!!  Leave me a comment if you want me to hook you up!
